Memorial Day Thanks

In Hawaii

Dad and my Granddaddy

electricians on board

ship like Dads

great great great grand dad

I would like to take the time to say thanks to all the veterans who have made this country a safe place to live and the sacrifice they gave. Lets just hope it can stay that way and we can find our way out of this mess we are in for now.
The headstone is of my great, great, great grandfather and of course its a confederate headstone. In doing my genealogy I found out he along with two of his other brothers fought in several big battles and finally near the end of the war was captured and sent to Rock Island and survived that hell hole.

The other dashing man is my dad who turned 85 this month. He lied about his age and joined the Navy. He served on Destroyer Escort USS Wileman.

He was an electrician on board. The picture of the ship is The DE USS 23 Charles R Greer taken from aboard the USS Wileman as they left port his ship looked just like it.
Thanks to all soldiers and have a good weekend you are remembered by most.

Lovely tribute. We should all be very, very thankful. I'm so afraid this country is losing sight of the sacrifices that our fallen soldiers and those who've fought for this nation have made.
