Crystal Springs Art Show

This is some pictures from the Crystal Springs Art show Nov. 12. We had some really nice work by the members. They will be up for 3 months at the Tomato Museum come by and take a look.
The pumpkin and patty pans look more like the should here in this picture.

VAA spring show

The spring show is over and alas I did not do well this time but my friends did very well this time. Ms A won 1st place and honorable mention in oils. My friend Lisa made out like a bandit this time. She got 1st place in mixed media and took peoples choice in the angel competition. She also sold two pieces which makes it the Cherry on top. Congratulations guys!

Vicksburg Art Show

I was lucky and got a ribbon for Honorable Mention for my painting of the Watermelon Slice and Salt out of 24 entries. Happy Dance here as my White Pumpkin sold. One never knows what is going to happen at a show I really thought it would be the other way around that the watermelon would sell.

The woman in the bright red is also my bud Lisa, hard at work on her piece using bits and pieces found after Katrina went threw on the coast.
I was so into my painting I vaguely remember this guy saying don’t move just pretend I’m not here, then all I heard is this clicking of the shutter and was wondering when it was going to quit.

Here we are at the start of the horn. Lisa is at my side and Laura is up front hubby was my assistant (he did a great job changing out my water and cleaning my brushes when needed. Love ya hon.) and took this picture from up above. This was a really cool place if ever you get a chance and in Hattiesburg go by the Bottling Co.

Well I survived the quick draw yesterday and it was a lot of fun but it was a lot smaller than last year with artist and guest there it seemed to me. I guess the economy is hurting everyone. I sold one small painting Nannies Knife and my blackbird came out OK and sold but not for as much as last year in the auction. At least I was able to cover my cost of the frames.

Clinton

It was cold this last Sat in many ways. The temperatures were down and very blustery for the out door Christmas festival in Clinton. Most people must have stayed at home, as there did not seem to be that many people out and of course they were not letting go of the cash. It was almost a no sale day but I did sale two of my small art cards. We actually spent more than we made which is not the way it is supposed to work.
Every one is worried about the economy including me. As an artist, it really hits home when the economy is down and art is the last thing someone may spend any money on. Moreover, there are a lot more artist out there trying to get some of their work sold than it seems as in the past or it seams that way to me. With the internet a lot more are visible I guess and there are a lot more people like me who would like to make a little money oh what the heck a lot of money to be able to continue the drive to create something. Let us hope things get better as I have not had the guts to look at my IRA lately at least gas is a little cheaper for the time being so that is some consolation.

1st and 2nd place at VAA

SOLD
Yea whooo hooooo!!!! I won first place with my car Out to Pasture and second place with my Terry Depot in the Acrylic category at the spring Vicksburg Art Show this past weekend. The judge was Cetin Oguz of Delta State University. In addition, I just got a call that my car sold yesterday. Double yea. I was a little concerned as the paper had I won third place with the car instead of 1st but after talking with Brenda at the VAA they had typed it up wrong too bad because it was in the Vicksburg paper incorrect also.

Vicksburg Show

I put four pictures in the Vicksburg show. Three of them I did a little tweaking. Funny when you have not looked at something in a while stuff just screams at you. They also had a pet portrait this time so I put in Tasha’s picture.

I had sooo much fun Sunday!!!!!

I had so much fun yesterday. I was in at the Bottling Company in Historic Downtown Hattiesburg. Sunday was the first Quick Draw auction and silent auction with the South Mississippi Art Association and the AIDS service Coalition benefit to raise funds. Each artist was allowed to put in 5 pieces for a silent auction. We had one hour to draw, paint or whatever type of art the artist chooses to perform. After the hour, we had 15 min to frame our piece and bring it to the stage give, our name and a brief description of our piece and then a real auctioneer started the bidding. The biggest thing is worrying if anyone would bid on it. I had some bids and it sold to a nice man for his wife who has a cat that looked like the one I painted. I also had three of my five paintings in the silent auction sell. YEA. I was able to meet some nice people and I would have loved to watch them work, as there were some great looking work put up for auction.

Raymond, MS Little Big Fest

Saturday was a beautiful day in the south. The Little Big Store had an art and music fest at the same time that the Raymond day fall Festival was going on. I met some of the myspace friends and was able to see some of their artwork. I even sold a few of my rocks; one never knows what will sell. My mother had collected a bucket of rocks (there are no river rocks in MS) as I had wanted to see if I could paint some rocks. Well I see maybe a few more rocks in my future.

Here is a picture of the studio as we were setting things up for the show.
On Oct 13 we had a wine and cheese open house of Jason Moulder’s Studio. We had a good crowd of around 100 people. I am grateful to all who came and supported me as I try to make it as an artist . I don’t have a picture of the event as I was to busy. There are some on snap fish taken by someone else but you have to order them. Maybe Jason has some of all the people.
