VAA show this past Sat.

The big fall Vicksburg Art Show was held this past Saturday and it was a nice one. I missed last years as I was in B'han and Dad passed away. I was in a slump after I got back and it was really this past summer that I started getting back in the grove by painting with Ms A and the summer group.
My Green tomatoes "Best Friends" got 2nd place in oils out of 26 entered. I was so pleased because it has been a while since I got a placed ribbon. That gives me a little boost to the old muse and spurs me on. Will show the other two this week but for now I have two I have to finish for the Crystal Spring show this Nov.

Green Tomatoes

This was a fun painting and I loved the green tomatoes we did fry them after I painted them.
They were in the Crystal Spring show and got an honorable mention. I have also placed them in the Vicksburg show this month

Heirloom Tomato

This is of an heirloom tomato we picked up from the farmers market in Jackson. It was a small tomato but tasty and we even saved some seeds to plant next year. We liked the way it has so many bumps on it. We do not know the name and the person selling could not remember it so we named it after her. The Happy High Healed Hippie.

So sad to see the home grown tomatoes gone for the year. But this bag is here all year round. This was with a brush and several glazes. Is it to much orange?

I did this painting earlier on a smaller canvas with acrylics and really liked it so I thought i would try it on a larger format and with my new oils.

This is a little painting using my husbands grandmothers old kitchen knife and one of her old pitchers. The little knife almost is worn down on the blade. I can just picture her using it to slice a home grown tomato fresh from the garden.

Tomatoes and onion 4X6 watercolor hot press

Another watercolor on the hot press paper. Since I’m so new at watercolor, I need to get another sheet of this paper I’m down to only two more 4 x 6 pieces. It is different from the cold press and I have not used the rough yet. I also have one watercolor canvas that I have not tried yet. Any one out there used one. How did you like it?
