Sea Oats

Last Sat. Will and I went to Crystal Springs with the art association to display a few of my things in their town square flea market like happening. At least it was not to terribly hot. I just wish there was more people there. They maybe had 13 to 15 vendors there and at these things I always spend more than I sell. LOL.

All in all I did sell a few of my practice pieces and the ones I did back for the dfds site that Karin Jurick had some time ago. They were watercolors with out a matt that I brought on a whim and surprise surprise they are what sold. Above is also one I did on hot press paper. Maybe the very low price had something to do with it also.

I do not know if we are going to be there later in Oct. or not If so I will post and come by and see us.

Dad Floyd Eugene Wadsworth 1925 2010 age 85

Here is a picture I did of my dad. The picture I used was when he was about 65. Neither of my parents look their age and he still had a full head of black hair with just a little gray.
Miss you so much dad, but I know you are around.
I have some pictures and info I did for his service to the country back in May 2010. Dad was a proud Navy WWII vet. and we are so glad he was able to go on the Honor Flight this past Aug. It was a high point of his life.

This is a watercolor I have never posted. I have have had it at Petersons and must have slipped my mind to post. How easy that can happen. I know I have been gone a while but I was in B'ham. for a while as Dad pased away in Oct. For some reason I guess I have not been to keen to get back to my painting but hope to as the smell of the oil paint is calling again.

Another Painting for the different strokes for different folk’s site hosted by Karin Jurick. I loved the way the light backlit the hydrangeas. There are so many talented artists on this site and sometimes my work looks so puny next to theirs but I figure at some point mine will look as accomplished. The subject for the next two weeks is more to my taste, so I hope to do better. I really like these challenges as they push me to try new subject matter.

Another fun challenge for me and getting me out of my comfort zone and trying something new. This week’s challenge was of people at a busy crossing with long shadows. I chose to crop the picture. I am feeling a little guilty as I did not do the painting for different strokes this week and we had two weeks to complete it. However, alas I had three paintings to complete and get to town matted and framed for the Vicksburg Art Associations Fall show. Then I had my Oz painting to be delivered.
This is my only watercolor in the show and it was done on hot press paper.

My large painting of the Wizard of Oz is almost finished. I have everything down and happy with it all but the figure of Dorothy. I have a mental block on people and just not used to painting them. Therefore, I had to take a little break and do something else. This is a small watercolor from a picture from wet canvas. If you never been to that site you should go give it a visit. I have spent days there.

Tried a Cheetah in watercolor and could not get the effect I was after. This was on cold press and not the hot press paper. I really need to get back to the zoo now that it is getting cooler so I can get some pictures. The New Orleans Zoo was just great but I have not been since Katrina hit.

Here is my latest picture from Karin Jurick site, Different Strokes for different folks. I have to admit when I saw it was OMG as this is defiantly something I most likely would never have chosen to paint. But this is what is great about the site. Moreover, for some reason I kept seeing a whale so I might do another one and turn it into a whale.

Another watercolor on the hot press paper. Since I’m so new at watercolor, I need to get another sheet of this paper I’m down to only two more 4 x 6 pieces. It is different from the cold press and I have not used the rough yet. I also have one watercolor canvas that I have not tried yet. Any one out there used one. How did you like it?

Last Sunday is spent the day reading several blog’s of people I came across by looking at the painting a day blog site. I have to admit to being an internet junkie and have a hard time turning it off. One site leads to another and before I know it, the day is gone or it’s two in the morning. In addition, to learning new things there are a few chuckles along the way. What I’m getting at is I found this site called different strokes for different folks put on by Karin Jurick. Her work by the way is just beautiful at her personal blog.
However, what I like about this site is you have one week to do an interpretation of the picture put forth. Therefore, for my first attempt here are white pumpkins. Please see the link to the side and enjoy all the great work.

This is our new best friend. We bought a bottle of this and we have used it on everything lately. We had it out on the counter with some cilantro and I thought this would make a good painting so here it is.

The other day I was walking threw the grocery store with my hubby and saw these beautiful red radishes across the aisle. I thought what a beautiful painting they would make with the red and green. He asked me what we would do with a bunch of radishes. As it turned out, we made a great dip. The recipe is on his blog Wills kitchen.

I feel like a kid in a candy store every time I walk into a art supply store. So many colors to choose from. This time I got three new watercolor to try. Winsor Red , Antwerp Blue and Indigo. I used the two blues on this painting. This looks better in person was not able to get the color to come out right.
