This is another copy of Vincents sunflowers I liked I really do like the light yellow backgrounds and plan to work on some more.

Red Geraniums 4x6

I love Geraniums. I have three different colors but the reds are my favorites.
I had read on another blog that for smaller paintings they should be lighter or in more of a high key. On thinking about it it does make sense. When I brought them to Peterson's to display the little yellow backgrounds did seem to show up much better and draw your eye.

Tulip tree 5x7

This is a tulip tree flower they bloomed really early this year seems like everything bloomed early. Right now out fig tree is full of large green figs.

OK It has been a while since I have been here and dang it they have changed things up and I just was comfortable  with the old lay out. Not sure I like this one. By the time I get used to it they will change it again. I'm old and do not like change. 

Well now that I have that out of my system on to art matters.

I have been painting but have not posted in a while. I did do some summer painting with a great group of gals at Hinds art department this past summer and it was just what I needed to get back into the swing of things. 

This is the first painting I have completed since Feb. Not much to look at but it was done in one day with the pallet knife.
I Hate this how do you log out now. Its sad to be so computer illiterate.

Marigolds in the bottle 4x6 oil

Hello everyone its been a while since I have posted but the muse has been on vacation and the computer has been down.

I also must confess that hubby reloaded my genealogy program that I have not been to look at for about a year or more and if any one knows you can get lost in looking up information.

This is a quick little study with some marigolds and an empty vanilla bottle. I kind of like the reflected light in the shadow. I have a fellow artist friend Jason that did a beautiful painting with a large bottle with a red orange reflection.

Bird of Paradise 5x7 acrylic

This is a small colorful acrylic flower. I still can not seem to get a handle on the acrylics they just seem to dry up so fast even using a medium.

I have been going to Hinds for the summer and painting with the new head of the Art department and my bud Lisa. They have been using oils and I just couldn't stand it any more so I ordered me some oil paint and will take painting II this fall.

This is a little 5x7 acrylic of some pink cone flowers. It has been so hot here that most everything has stopped blooming but these guys are hanging on.

Vase of Blue Flowers Pop

Another in my Flower Pop series. This one is larger and in a vase. This is a donation for the Jackson Free Press’s Chick Ball on July 19 proceeds to benefit the Center for Violence Prevention. They liked my Pop series. Therefore, I gave them a choice of three to choose from my blue flower pop and the cheetah and the one I just completed. They chose this one.

Well I am grooving with a blast from the past with the Steve Miller Band on PBS. My Hubby and I are watching and reliving old times. When did we get old? In a nod to the past, here is my Blue Flower Pop.

I tried something new for this one. I painted the picture in black and white first. Then I put thin washes of color on as I used to do with oils in a thin glaze and worked it layer by layer. The only problem is it is hard to get a good picture.
